Shaykh Ahmed ibn ‘Umar Bazmool – may Allaah preserve him said – :
Whosoever speaks in the religion of Allaah without knowledge, even if he speaks well, even if he is an eloquent Khateeb, even if he teaches, and even if he authors books;
Then all these matters do not mean that he is a scholar
Even if he is a scholar, his correctness must be greater than his mistakes, and he must be upright upon the Sunnah, and he must have true understanding of this religion.
But for him to simply say, “I am a student of so and so, I am from the relatives of so and so, I serve so and so, and I am from those who so and so has praised so I am now a scholar.”
And in reality, he comes with calamites and ignorance; so this does not benefit him
